City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center

City of Bakersfield Animal Care CenterWelcome to the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center (CBACC).  CBACC is located at 201 South Mt. Vernon Avenue and accepts animals from city residents and animals impounded by the City of Bakersfield Animal Control Officers. Our hours of operation are Tuesday-Saturday from 10am to 4pm.  Stray animals and those being surrendered by owners are accepted during these hours, however, if you are surrendering your own pet, please call 661-832-7387 to make an appointment.  You may also purchase licenses, redeem a lost pet and receive a myriad of resources during regular business hours.

We want to make every possible attempt to keep your pet with you and will do our best to find pet friendly housing, pet food and training resources or spay and neuter options.  We also cannot guarantee that your pet will be suitable for our adoption program, so by making the appointment, we can facilitate stray intakes more quickly and provide extra attention to your situation.

Adoptable KittyAdoption is always our preferred choice when looking to add an animal companion to your family.  We have many animals that are in our shelter through no fault of their own and would love the opportunity to match you with a forever pet.  Many in our care are just looking for the right family to love.

We ask that you come down in person to meet our animals, so the right match can be made for you and your family.  While we have all of our adoptable pets online, the human-animal bond is one that should be taken seriously when choosing a pet, and a picture will not always mean they are the right choice for your individual situation.

ART WALK At First Friday - April 1, 2016
The City of Bakersfield Animal Control, in partnership with Ana Deshpande photography, would like to invite you to join us for The Art Walk at First Friday.

Pet lovers are responding this year more than ever to requests for bed donations for shelter dogs and cats! Postings on Facebook right now are responsible for helping thousands of dogs off cold shelter floors, and sleeping cats out of litter pans!
If you are needing beds for your animals, post your donation link on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram along with a simple sentence. Add a picture from our Gallery or ask us to customize one for you.
Please “Give the Gift of Comfort” to a dog or cat in the shelter by sending them a Kuranda bed - ships directly to us for special $5 shipping/USA. http://kuranda.com/donate/8940
